About Patri

Founder, Puneet Wadhwani has created a never-before-seen menu bringing to life the snacks and dishes he once ate as a child growing up within a bicycle ride of New Delhi train station, and of those he remembers eating onboard India’s great rail journeys.

From rail side snacks, such as ‘girlfriend chaat,’ cooked on the platform and handed to travellers through the windows of passing trains, to the fragrant curries, such as, ‘rara gosht,’ cooked on board. Patri’s menu centres around the distinct culinary journeys of India’s historic railway stations.

Meaning train track, Patri’s launch menu features dishes particularly inspired by the historic New Delhi Station and the great Marwar Junction known best as the point of departure for Rudyard Kipling’s The Man Who Would Be King: – “It all began at Marwar junction, three long summers and a thousand years ago.”

The menu is inspired by New Delhi and the room apparently has “a layout designed to recreate the hubbub, hustle and bustle of an Indian train journey.”
As for the food itself, our guests can expect a mix of kebabs and meat dishes alongside a good selection of vegan and vegetarian home cooking style food.

Signature dishes like Murgh Makhani AKA Butter Chicken and Zaffran Laal Maas; The World’s Most Tender Lamb Curry highlight our culinary excellence and understanding of tender curry cooking.

Enhancing the experience is a restaurant plan that pays homage to the ticket halls, waiting rooms and train carriages of India’s railways. Tables are dressed as they would be in a restaurant car, while platform-style benches help create a convivial, social atmosphere – all designed to take customers on a journey that’s authentic, fun and conducive to fine dining.

Puneet Wadhwani says:

Patri was born to take diners onto a journey of flavours paired with matching drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.

Alongside a seasonal menu is a selection of hand-crafted cocktails and mocktails, a specially selected wine list with pairing notes, artisan gins, a range of refreshing craft beers and ciders and authentic Indian soft drinks – all chosen to perfectly complement the flavours of our food.

We’re bringing the true taste of Indian street food – as cooked by chefs on trains and in stations – to diners in an atmosphere that genuinely evokes the Indian eating experience”. “This is not the kind of food you get in British curry houses – it’s the cuisine I would travel thousands of miles back to India to eat when I was feeling homesick.”
